Where does my tracking data go?

While you fly, WingX is recording your GPS position, altitude and speed in a file on your iPhone or iPad.  This file is private to the WingX application.

When you upload the tracks to AvConnect, WingX creates a secure (https) connection to the AvConnect datacenter and then sends the tracking file over the secure link.

AvConnect archives the flight data in your account.  It can only be read by you or other users that you specifically authorize. We use this data to present Google Earth maps upon your request, and to figure out your flight records so that we can automatically enter them for you.

You can view or delete your tracking data at any time.

We keep all AvConnect records secured by encryption and backed-up in real-time to our other data centers for your protection.  We also securely archive your flight data on encrypted backup tapes each day in our Denver headquarters.

We take the privacy of your personal data very seriously.  We never sell or transmit your data to any third party without your prior consent.

Let us know if you have any questions on how we process or store your flight information.

I have the same problem as well. It says the data is uploaded in Wingx but I don't see any data in Avconnect.

Thank you for the reports - we're looking into this now.

One thing to note:  the system will not record any flight entries if the track wasn't active while the airplane was actually flying.  In other words, a taxi only track (or a car trip) will not show up in AvConnect.

Stand by while we check on these two reports.

Mine were two actual flights today. Both were approx 30 min long.

I uploaded my flight data collected using WingX and I do see it in "Pilot Logs" but I cannot figure out how to see it on Google Earth.

How can I see my flight on Google Earth?

    Hi Artiom,

You should get an email for each flight that you upload.  Attached to the email is your Google Earth map.  Sometimes these emails get blocked by spam filters.  We may also have a typo in your email address when you registered for the account.  A good way to check is to make sure that you received a welcome email when you registered.

We also archive the map, so we'll put a link on the logbook page to access these.

I have successfully uploaded my first track with the WingX and Avconnect.  I received the email for google earth and was most pleased.  It does not however associate my tail number for the google earth or my pilot log.  Is there a way to set the default to my tail number?

It seems I cannot successfully upload a track unless I do it immediately after the flight.  I have 5 flights on my ipad, but only managed to get 2 to show up online, although the others indicate a successful upload.  Is there a reason I can't upload old tracks?
